When should I use clear labels (and when should I not)?

Clear labels can look premium, but they’re not magic. If contrast is weak, your label becomes invisible on the shelf.

Clear labels work best when

  • Your packaging colour supports contrast
  • You keep text sizes sensible (especially ingredients)
  • You design with “negative space” deliberately

Clear labels are a bad idea when

  • The container is busy/printed (visual noise)
  • You need small compliance text to be readable from any angle
  • You’re relying on very light colours for type

We can recommend clear vs white based on your container.
